GRIT: The Daily Check-Up From the Neck-Up

Let go. be. gave me the pause.
GRIT gave me the practice.

When I learned to stop reacting, I finally had space to ask better questions.
And those questions are where everything started to shift.

Because GRIT isn’t about being tough,
it’s about getting honest,
with yourself.

That’s why I call it my daily check-up from the neck-up.
It’s how I keep my thinking, my choices, and my actions in alignment with who I want to become.

It’s four words that keep me grounded,
Growth, Resilience, Integrity, and Tenacity.
And every one of them asks me to look in the mirror.

Growth asks, am I willing to learn from what’s happening, or am I just blaming everyone else?

Sometimes growth hurts. It means owning my part in the mess instead of pointing fingers.
It means asking, what is this here to teach me?
It’s realizing that pain can grow me, if I let it.

Growth isn’t about perfection,
it’s about awareness.
It’s about seeing where I still react from fear, and choosing to respond from truth instead.

Resilience asks, how do I show up when life doesn’t go my way?

Do I quit?
Do I numb out?
Do I pretend I’m fine while I fall apart inside?

Resilience isn’t about bouncing back fast,
it’s about standing back up slower but stronger.
It’s choosing to try again even when the outcome still scares me.

Because resilience is built one moment at a time, not in the victories but in the recoveries.

Integrity asks, are my words and actions matching?

It’s easy to say the right things,
but when the pressure hits, do I still walk my talk?
Do I take shortcuts or stay true to what I know is right, even when no one’s watching?

Integrity isn’t about being perfect,
it’s about being consistent.
It’s about showing up as the same person on the outside that I say I am on the inside.

That’s where peace comes from, when who I am and who I say I am finally match.

Tenacity asks, do I keep showing up when it gets uncomfortable?

Do I stay committed when no one is clapping?
Do I keep moving when it feels like nothing’s working?

Tenacity isn’t about pushing harder,
it’s about staying steady.
It’s about trusting the process even when I can’t see the results yet.

It’s knowing that every time I don’t give up, I build strength I can’t lose.

Let go. be. gave me the pause.
GRIT gave me the practice.
Together, they bring me back to center.

Because the truth is, peace isn’t found in everything going right,
it’s found in how we respond when things fall apart.

GRIT doesn’t make life easier,
it makes you stronger inside the life you already have.

Reflection:
Which part of GRIT do you need most today?
Are you willing to sit in the pause long enough to let the truth rise up before you move?

When life feels off, pause.
Do your check-up from the neck-up.
Then start again with GRIT.
